Objective: To determine the main cause and risk factor of the infant*s mortality of mothers with preeclampsia.
Materials and methodology: The case-control study was conducted in the NICY of obstetrical-gynecological clinlic of MCHRC and included 92 infants of mothers with pre-eclampsia..
Result: Gestation age was compared to the case which dead infants of mothers caused by preeclampsia and control who survived infants of mothers caused by preeclampsia. 13(21.6%) were in 28 weeks, 29(48.3%) were 28-31 in weeks, 18/30%/- were 32-36 in weeks were in dead infants. In contrast, 1(3.1%) 28 weeks, (12.5%) 28-31 weeks, 2(84.3%) 32-36 weeks were in survived infants group. Respiratory-distress syndrome 55(91.6%), hypoxic-Ischemic encephalopathy 56(93.3%), and intraventricular haemorrhage 39(65%) were common reasons of infant*s mortality who attended this study. Infant weight 1000 gram (OR=19.3), 28 weeks gestation age (OR=12.6), Apgar score 1-3 at 1 minute after births, >100 mm Hg (OR=3.8) high diastolic blood pressure of mothers were mainly risk factors for infant, s mortality. 42(75%) cases and 5(15%) controls were gestational age at termination that was before the end of 32 weeks pregnancy.
Conclusion:The percentages of 28-31 weeks gestation age (69.9%), infant weight 1000-1499 gram (66.6%), Apgar score 1-3 at 1 minute after births (41.0%) were higher dead infants than the survived infants. Respiratory- distress syndrome 55 (91.6%), hypoxic-Ischemic encephalopathy 56(93.3%), and intraventricular haemorrhage 39(65%) were common causes of infant*s mortality.
