Food therapy is a part of Mongolian traditional treatment methods and plays an important
role in preventing diseases. Mongols have a rich heritage of disease prevention and longevity,
by adjusting food and life style to their body constitutions and the seasonal influences.
Nowadays, non-communicable diseases are increasing due to alteration of balance between the
lifestyle and food consumption, espesially in the bigger cities in Mongolia. There is an increasing
need to improve the role of traditional medicine in preventing diseases and maintaining healthier
lifestyle.
In this study we examined the effect of horse meat and goat meat on experimental
pathological liver disease model of toxic (CCl4). Experimental pathological liver disease model
was developed in total of 40 rats and horse and goat meats effects, necrotic liver cell lysis were
compared with the standard drug such as actovegin.
In spring, AsaT ferment activity was reduced 1.49-1.84 fold and AlaT ferment activity was
reduced 2.34-1.9 fold in animals given horse meat compare to control group. AsaT ferment
activity was reduced 1.36-1.61 fold and AlaT ferment activity was reduced 1.63-1.34 fold in
animals given goat meat compare to control group. These results might correlate with the
theory of traditional medicine that horse meat has ‘hot’ quality and goat meat has ‘cold’ quality.
