Background: Lilium martagon L. is endangered medicinal plant, which is registered in Red book of Mongolia. The aim was to establish an in vitro culture initiation of Lilium martagon.
Methods: We used seed and zygotic embryo as a plant material. Zygotic embryos of Lilium martagon L. germinated 91% on a Linsmaier and Skoog(1965) basal medium supplemented with gibberellic acid (GA3). The in vitro culture started from bulb explant.
Adventitious shoots were regenerated from one scale explants on Linsmaier and Skoog basal medium supplemented with various concentrations of plant growth regulators.
Results and conclusion: The most efficient medium for multiplication was Linsmaier and Skoog(1965) supplemented with 8.88μM 6-benzylaminopurine and 0.54μÌ naphthalene acetic acid.
