TREA TMENT

AIM

To introduce the new differential treatment in-patients with previous chronic diarrhea in Mongolia for specialized in gastroenterology physicians.

METHODS

Interactive lecture using by professional recommendations of references, experiences of participants and free discussion.

• To define the knowledge level of participants physicians

• To have a presentation 1. Evaluation of chronic diarrhea

2. New differential treatment:

- Management on 1-st level, GP

- Management on 2-nd level: A.C and District Health Care Units, General Hospitals)

- Management on 3-d level: Qualified Hospital and Center

EVALUATION OF CHRONIC DIARRHEA (2 weeks < )

1. History (Important Questions to ask a Patient)

2. Physical Examination (Important P.E to look for Patient)

3. Endoscopy (to distinguish functional from organic, location, inflammatory and infiltrative disease, presence of malosorbtion)

4. Laboratory studies (erythrocyte sedimentation rate-ESR)

5. Bacteriological tests (causative agents such as shigella, salmonella. Campylobacter. Yersinia enterocolitica, C. difficile. Entamoeba histolytica)

6. Radiological studies using by barium enema Neoplastic/cancer and Inflammatory conditions, reflux contrast /Crohn's disease/'. Mucosal /celiac sprue/, Infiltrative processes/amyloidosis'.

7. Other studies (72 h stool collection for fecal fat, osmolality, electrolyte and hormone assays)
